Cody Harris
CO-FOUNDER, PRESIDENT
Cody’s passion for rivers began in Durango, Colorado, where he first took to kayaking. Over the past two decades, he has dedicated himself to exploring and navigating rivers across three continents, continuously refining his skills in whitewater rescue and instruction.
A former member of the U.S. Canoe and Kayak Olympic Development Team, Cody brings a wealth of experience to his role at the Whitewater Rescue Institute. In addition to his extensive paddling background, he has worked as an EMT, a ski patroller, and an instructor in wilderness first aid for Aerie Backcountry Medicine.
As the Director and a Lead Instructor for the Whitewater Rescue Institute, Cody is committed to advancing swiftwater spill response, water safety, and rescue education. When he’s not teaching or on the river, he enjoys sharing his love for the outdoors with his three children, ensuring the next generation appreciates and respects the power of moving water.
