The WRI Instructor Certification Course provides a certification opportunity for people interested in becoming a Swiftwater/Flood Rescue Technician Instructor for the Whitewater Rescue Institute.
Applicants to this course must have the following certifications:
-Basic Swiftwater Rescue Technician Certification
-Advanced Swiftwater Rescue Technician Certification
-Current Wilderness First Responder (WFR) or EMT Certification
-Current CRP Certification
Applicants should also have the following experience and physical capabilities:
-5 years recreational or commercial river trips
-Able to run 1 mile in less than 10:00 minutes
-Able to swim Class III Whitewater while towing an unresponsive victim
-Able to lift and carry 50 pounds over difficult terrain
Successful completion of the the Instructor Certification Course will allow newly certified instructors to teach for the Whitewater Rescue Institute at WRI sanctioned courses.
