With the increased exposure to inland oil spills planning is not only mandated, but also critical to successful and safe operations.  WRI has the experience and technology to create thorough Comprehensive Oil Spill Response Plans, Facility Response Plans, and Geographic Response Plans. GRP clients include BNSF, Montana Rail Link, Idaho DEQ, and EPA Region 10.

Currently, WRI has written plans for the:

  • Clark Fork
  • Flathead
  • Lake Pend Oreille
  • Yellowstone
  • Lochsa
  • Clearwater
  • South Fork of Clearwater
  • Jocko
  • Missouri Rivers

We use state-of-the-art GIS databasing, data-collection and the expertise that comes from years spent on the river to create response plans that are thorough and practical.  To help control our costs, the WRI GIS team has developed an automation process that eliminates the need to touch data more than necessary.

WRI also regularly coordinates Inland Oil Spill  and GRP Related Trainings or Drills for agencies and organizations including the National Park Service, US Forest Service,  Washington Ecology, California OSPER, Montana DEQ, Clean Harbors, NRC, MSRC, ELASTEC, Union Pacific,  BNSF, Canadian Pacific, Exxon, Phillips 66, CHS, Pacific Gas and Electric, Andeavor, EPA Region 8 and 10, County Departments of Emergency Services and literally thousands of local first responders across the region. WRI is the choice of the US Coast Guard to lead the fastwater spill response training for it’s Northwest Oil Spill School (NWOSCC) in Port Angeles Washington.
